Night Guards in Long Beach, CA

About Night Guards

Night guards are commonly used to treat teeth grinding or bruxism. Teeth grinding can wear down the teeth and enamel, which often requires extensive dental restoration. When patients visit Emigh Dental Care for an exam, our dentists will take molds of their upper and lower teeth so a custom night guard can be made. Our office does not make the night guards on-site, but we do utilize the services of a certified dental laboratory to ensure that each night guard is made with high-end, quality material. During the exam, our dentists will be able to discuss the types of material that may be used to create the customized night guard. We encourage our patients to call our Long Beach, CA office today to learn more about how a night guard can help.

What to Expect

Once patients decide to get a night guard, they will schedule an appointment at our office to have impressions of their upper and lower teeth made. The impressions will be sent to a dental laboratory where a custom-fit night guard will be crafted for them. Once the night guard is returned to our office, patients will come in to have their night guard fitted by our dentists.

Treatment Aftercare

The night guard can last for several years with proper home care. Patients should clean the mouth guard before and after each use. Depending on the type of material used when making the mouth guard, our dentists will give patients more specific care instructions. Patients should bring their night guard to all future dental appointments so our dentists can check for general wear and decide when it needs to be replaced.
